In an effort to combat the growing crisis of period poverty in New Jersey, The Flow Initiative, in collaboration with Planned Parenthood of Northern, Central, and Southern New Jersey (PPNCSNJ), launched a new survey aimed at gaining deeper insights into the menstrual health needs and challenges faced by residents across the state.
The survey marks a critical step in understanding the barriers that women, girls, and menstruating people encounter in managing their menstrual cycles. The data collected from the survey will be instrumental in guiding future initiatives, advocacy efforts, and policy recommendations. This will help ensure that every person who menstruates in New Jersey has access to the products, education, and support they need.
The Flow Initiative is a national organization committed to eradicating period poverty and achieving menstrual equity for all. To date, we have passed seven menstrual health bills, educated 40,000 students, and distributed 1.8 million menstrual health products worldwide.
The Flow Initiative's mission is to achieve menstrual equity for girls, women, and people who menstruate. Through programs, partnerships and policy, the mission comes to life and reinforces The Flow Initiative as a national leader in the menstrual health movement.
The Flow Initiative works with partners year-round to eradicate period poverty, in addition to advancing menstrual health legislation and policy. To date, we have worked with the Alliance For Period Supplies, Horizon BCBSNJ, Planned Parenthood, U by Kotex, and others.
Nationwide, 23% of teenagers struggle to afford period products which impacts their ability to go to school and work. Take action and help The Flow Initiative make a difference for students in the 2025 academic year.
